Mission Valley has a very rich history here in San Diego. At one point, it was home to the Kumeyaay Indians. Missionaries built the Mission San Diego De Alcala here, in part because of the close proximity to the San Diego River, which flows from El Capitan, down through Santee, Mission Gorge, and Mission Valley, into the Pacific ocean (near Ocean Beach and Mission Beach). At one point, the historic El Camino Real ran through here. Now Mission Valley is home to Mission Taco Mexican Food, the nearest Mexican food establishment to Qualcomm Stadium.
